The Rise Of The Independent Woman
Have you ever thought you were too independent?
You think to yourself:
I don’t really need a man do I?
I don’t need him to help me change a tyre or the light globe. I can do all that stuff for myself.
I mean after all you earn good money, have taken responsibility for your life… in fact you can even have a baby on your own!
So why do we ‘need’ a man at all?
Well unless you want to go it on your own your whole life, then it’s great to have a partner to walk the path with you.
You can Be the Queen and let him be your King.
You can Honour and Respect Him and he can Worship and Appreciate you.
But in order for that to happen you need to Know Your Worth.
Speak up and ask for what you want. Value yourself so he’ll value you. Love yourself, so he’ll love you. Treat yourself the way you want to be treated.
Perhaps it’s the ambivalence about compromising your independence though that is quietly stopping you getting into that ideal relationship.
Secretly sabotaging your thoughts so you push him away or ensuring you choose the wrong type of partner who will never ‘meet’ you anyway.
All so that you can maintain your sense of independence.
So I’d ask – what’s more important… maintaining the status quo or having a life partner in crime?
Cause in order to gain something we must lose something.
…but it doesn’t have to be your independence.
Perhaps just lose the idea that you can’t have both. Why not try that rather than throwing the baby out with the bath water?
And see what happens when you surrender that idea.
Consider that it’s possible to attract a partner who will appreciate your independence and in return you’ll respect his desire to do things for you (like change your light globe) and actually allow him to do it.
Have fun with this!
Walking beside you.
